Welcome! The Rochester Federation of Teachers represents several categories of personnel employed by the Rochester School District. The Teachers Chapter, formed in 1999, represents the teachers, guidance counselors, speech/occupational/physical therapists, psychologists, librarians, nurses, reading consultants, elementary teaching principals, and other teaching specialists in the Rochester School District. The Paraprofessional Chapter, formed in 1988, represents all of the para-educators, bookkeepers, secretaries, and Title I tutors in the District. The Food Service Chapter, formed in 2001, represents all food services personnel (except for the bookkeeper, Director of Food Services, and Assistant Director of Food Services).
We came together to form the union so that together, we could have a stronger voice and negotiate a contract. (See Below to download a copy of our local constitution.) Over time, we’ve taken many steps forward in our working conditions, pay, and benefits.
But there’s still more to be done. You can help! Get involved—that’s how we become stronger, and improve our wages, benefits, and working conditions. To find out how you can become active in your union, contact your Building Representative or President Carrie Feyler.
If you’re not yet a member, we invite you to join us today, so that you can access all of the benefits of membership. You’ll also have a voice in your contract, and in the direction of the union. To move ahead, we need YOU as an active member!

Monthly Meetings of the Officers and Building Representatives are usually held on the second Tuesday of every month at 3:30 Rochester Middle School.
Building Meetings are held each month by your Building Representative to address matters of concern and to hear input from members in each building. Please attend to give your input, and to hear union updates!
Meetings of the Full Membership are held at least four times each year. Stay tuned from your building representative for information on your next building meeting, and the next full membership meeting.
