Your Action Requested
Next week is the last week for the House and Senate to finish their votes for this session before committees of conferences are established on bills the House and Senate passed but with an amendment from either chamber that needs to be discussed.
We still have a few bills and topics we are tracking that could significantly impact public education. Here are the bills we are watching next week and asking you to take all three actions below.
HB 1300, the education tax cap bill was amended in committee to allow one tax cap vote, during the November general election, in 2026 but the bill still contains lot of issues. It does not properly breakdown what will happen for communities that already have tax caps, and still removes the tradition and importance of New Hampshire town meetings. This bill poses a serious threat to local control over our neighborhood schools. Please be sure to take action by clicking the following: Protect NH Public Schools - No to HB 1300
HB 1792 was pushed off a week and will be voted on by the Senate this week. The House will also vote on SB 431. Both bills would look to undermine the judge’s ruling on divisive concepts, but we know both address only one small portion of the judge’s concerns and do not fix most of the problems with the law. The only way to fix this law is to repeal it. Please take the action below to tell the NH State Senate to vote NO on HB 1792. Vote NO on HB 1792
Also, please ask your state representative to vote NO on SB 431.
Lastly, we are still waiting on action on HB 751, the remaining open enrollment bill. No date has been set for the committee of conference with the House and the Senate. Once the date is set, the committee will meet and see if they can come to an agreement on an open enrollment scheme. We will keep you updated once that process begins.
Thank you for taking action!
